Exhibition “Israel in Gold and Sapphire Colors”

From June 2 to June 21, 2026, Bauska Museum will host the exhibition “Israel in Gold and Sapphire Colors” by Israeli artist Zoia Severa – a visually rich and emotional journey through the cities, landscapes, and cultural contrasts of Israel.

Zoia Severa is a recognized and talented artist known for her vivid, optimistic artistic style and distinctive color palette. She was born in 1974 in Lviv, Ukraine, later moved to Israel, and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. Today, the artist lives and works in Givatayim, Israel, and her works are featured in museums and private collections around the world.

The exhibition reveals Israel through the artist’s personal perspective, with special attention devoted to the images of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. These two cities – so different, yet deeply connected – become in Zoia Severa’s works a unified, multilayered story about the country’s identity, culture, and people.

Created in her characteristic “magical expressionism” style, the artist’s works combine reality and fantasy, architecture and emotion, antiquity and modernity. Her paintings bring to life skyscrapers, waterfronts, markets, parks, and the rhythm of urban life, illuminated by golden light and deep sapphire tones.

Alongside her creative work, Zoia Severa is also actively involved in humanitarian aid projects in Ukraine, supporting children and people affected by war in cooperation with the “United People of the Planet” foundation and the Embassy of Israel in Kyiv.
