On July 31, the outstanding Latvian pianist and winner of the Grand
Music Award, Georgijs Osokins, will give a solo concert at the Small Mežotne Palace. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m.
The artist has included in the concert program a piece by this year’s honoree—composer Pēteris Vask—
titled “Music for a Summer Evening” (it should be noted that a recording of this work was recently released
by the record label “Deutsche Grammophon” as G. Osokina’s tribute to Pēteris
Vask on his anniversary), Franz Schubert’s “Sonata in A minor, D. 784,” Robert Schumann’s “Waldszenen, Op. 82,”
as well as Franz Liszt’s “Hungarian Rhapsody” (arranged by G. Osokins).
The pianist graduated from the Emīls Dārziņš Music High School and also studied piano under his father, Sergejs Osokins, a professor and pianist at the
Latvian Academy of Music; he honed his talent at the prestigious
Juilliard School in New York, where he became a student in 2015, and has regularly participated
in masterclasses with the world’s most outstanding pianists and teachers: Dmitri Bashkirov, Georg
Friedrich Schenck, and others. In 2015, Georgijs became both a laureate of the Grand Music Award and
a diploma recipient at the Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, garnering the interest of several music agencies
the opportunity to perform worldwide, and the chance to record several CDs.
The artist performs with some of the world’s most renowned orchestras, including the Tokyo New City Orchestra, the Amadeus Orchestra, the chamber orchestra
Kremerata Baltica, and the world-famous Latvian violinist Gidon Kremer, and also performs
in prestigious concert halls: the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Salle Victoria
in Geneva, and others. This summer, the artist will also delight Latvian audiences by performing in the project “Trīs
Osokini” alongside his brother Andrejs and father Sergejs.
In the fall of 2025, in collaboration with the
record label “Deutsche Grammophon,” Georgijs released his latest work—the album
“For Arvo,” which was the pianist’s tribute to the world-renowned Estonian composer Arvo Pärt on his
90th birthday.
