From August 22 to September 27, 2026, the Bauska Museum will host a group exhibition by Latvian artists titled “I Don’t Care What You Call It—It Could Even Be Love.”
The exhibition opening and a meet-and-greet with the artists will take place on August 22 at 1:00 p.m.
The exhibition features artists well-known in the Latvian art scene: Neonilla Medvedeva, Ieva Liepiņa, Ilze Smildziņa, Maija Muižniece, Kristīne Guršpone, Valērijs Baida, Daina Dubra, and Alise Mediņa.
The artists have diverse experiences and perspectives, yet they are all united by a desire to keep the language of painting alive—its ability to tell stories, inspire, and create an emotional space for the viewer.
The exhibition brings together painters of different generations and styles, united by the conviction that painting is not merely a profession or a passing trend—it is a life’s mission. Different artists, different perspectives on the world, but a shared desire to use color, light, form, and professional craftsmanship to speak about what is true and enduring.
This is an exhibition about painting that does not attempt to explain itself through definitions and concepts. It is about a painting born of the need to paint—with reverence, with wonder, with love for the world, and with a desire to explore and immortalize it. For even a hundred years from now, when many words and the clamor of the era have faded away, the painting will still speak.
