The new early music vocal ensemble Tempera Mente will make its debut in Latvia, inviting audiences to a special concert at Bauska Castle. Formed in 2024 by six international musicians, the ensemble brings together singers who have gained experience in Europe’s leading early music ensembles. Their interpretations are characterized by refined vocal harmony, expressive musical rhetoric, and a deep interest in historical context. The ensemble is highly regarded for its ability to combine individual artistic freedom with impeccable ensemble sound.
The concert at Bauska Castle will feature 17th-century vocal music—masterpieces of the era that blend intricate polyphonic texture, emotional expression, and the rich soundscape of the early Baroque. Set against the Renaissance-inspired atmosphere of the castle, this program will reveal the diversity of early music and allow the audience to experience its intimacy and its ability to resonate with modern listeners as well.
Tempera Mente is also one of the ensembles selected to participate in the prestigious European program Sustainable-EEEmerging 2026–2027, which supports the most promising early music ensembles of the new generation.
